Well, I am very happy to report that Voice of Grace has indeed survived their fist CD project. After all the planning and stress, we are finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe it!!!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We arrived in Dallas on Thursday evening and started to the setup the room for recording. We finally got started around 9pm. It was interesting learning how the whole process works and get used to singing with headphones on. We got one song recorded and called it a night.
Friday we had a schedule lined up for the whole day but of course it did not go as planned at all!!!!!!! Hey, this is us remember?? And when the Shaffers and the Wychopens go anywhere together, it will never go smoothly and strange things will happen!!! There is something seriously messed up with our chemistry!!!*smile*
So, Friday morning we made it to the Dallas Training Center and got all of our stuff to our rooms since we would be staying there for the rest of the trip. We left to head back to the church and finish recording the songs that just our two families were singing. Well…..we drove for a while and nothing was really looking right. Soon we realized that we were heading east and we should have been going west. Oops…………..we turned around and started going the opposite direction. Ok, we’d gone 30 minutes out of the way. It would be fine. Heading west we drove for a while more. We drove, and drove……and drove. We figured something was not right when we started seeing Fort Worth signs. We really weren’t supposed to be in Fort Worth, but at least it looked like a nice city. *smile* So, Josh got a hold of the map and began shouting out directions. 2 hours and 15 minutes after leaving the training center, we arrived at our destination.
Some of us were completely frazzled and stressed but the other part of us thought it was just funny. I thought it was pretty funny myself. I mean, sometimes you just have to laugh……it was better than crying!!!! No, it really was comical and now we have one more thing to add to the list of Shaffer/Wychopen comical travel catastrophes!!! *smile* Poor Amy and Beth didn’t know what they were in for when they agreed to go with us!!!!!!!! LOL
Well, by the time the group arrived on Friday evening, everything was ready and we were able to start right in with the recording. Praise the Lord, everything went SO well and we got 6 songs recorded that night. The fact that the songs sounded decent was definitely a bonus!!!!!! I think those microphones must have been pretty incredible!!!!! *smile*
Saturday morning I woke up completely congested, sneezing, blowing my nose and I couldn’t really hear anything because my ears were stopped up. The room we slept in was pretty musty and I think there were some mildew issues. NOT a good thing since I am very allergic to mildew. Sooooooo, Saturday morning was a real challenge.
We spent time that morning reading the Bible together and praying and went straight into warm-ups which included “Father Abrahamâ€. Now that was a sight I must say!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, we were trying to wake up……. *smile* Once we started recording, I knew it wasn’t going to be good. For some reason what we had the night before was not there, not to mention I was having a very hard time singing and felt horrible.
By the time we got to the lunch break, I was feeling worse. Laura and Josh went to get me some medicine and I sent out some emergency text messages to get some prayer warriors alerted. I took medicine and went to lie down………….an hour later Laura woke me up. Apparently I was pretty dead to the world. Thank the Lord, the medicine really worked and my allergies had cleared up!!!!!!!!!!
John, the gentleman who was recording us gave us a much needed pep talk and it really helped us to get the focus back on what we were doing and why we were there. I think Satan had used a lot of things to distract each of us and get the focus on technicality and perfection rather than ministry and all to the Glory of God.
After we started again, I instantly felt the difference and things went so smoothly. We were able to rerecord all the songs from that morning as well as the others that still remained. We were done with the vocals by 6:30pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *smile* God is so good!!!!!!!!!
Once we finished our part, an awesome lady from our church, Mrs. Zeek recorded her flute parts on the songs. I don’t know what we would have done without Mrs. Zeek this weekend. She may have only recorded for 30 minutes but her encouragement, smiles, telling us what we needed to hear, and her servant’s heart was an incredible asset to the whole group!!!!!!! THANK YOU Mrs. Zeek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *smile*
After packing up, dinner and checking out of the training center we loaded up to head home. It was late but we decided we’d much rather just get home than stay another night and drive home the next day. We got in around 3am, unloaded, unpacked, took showers and crashed. I think I slept until 12:30pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you know what??? I’m STILL tired!!!!!!!!!!!!! *smile*
I just want to thank everyone for their love, their support and most of all their prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot thank each of you enough for being faithful prayer warriors. You were a BIG part of this CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t have any pictures from the weekend yet but I’ll get those from Tim soon!!! *smile* However, here are a couple more of our precious little Annie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (We went to the Humphrey’s house tonight after church……….we HAD to. The guys hadn’t met her yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t a must, you know me!!!!!!!!!! She was MUCH more interesting and entertaining than the superbowl!!!!!!!! *wink*) Sigh………isn’t she the mostest wonderfulest baby Annie Brooke ever???? Soooooooooooooooooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I’ll stop gushing now and let the pictures speak for themselves!!!!!! *smile*
