On Your Mark…Get Set… March 28, 2007

GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CMT here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at the Bogner’s house (my house too by now!!!!!) all day today working, working, working on conference stuff. Believe it or not it is my goal to be MORE organized this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND, I think we’re getting there!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy…..today we got TEN things marked off the list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TEN whole things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in organizer heaven today let me tell ya……do you know the complete satisfaction in crossing things off of lists?????? I’m here to say, there is nothing better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, ok, that’s a slight exaggeration. I can think of better things BUT it is WONDERMOUS, really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *smile*

So, that was pretty much my day……oh, Amy and I did take a break to go get Mel some watermelon gum….hey, we had to. She was falling asleep in her books and that won’t work when you have a paper due in three days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And while we were out we HAD to go get an ice cream cone. Yes, you heard me, HAD to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t look at me like that…………I just got through telling you we were working like mad all day and it was time for a pick me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides, Beth was at home doing math, math, math and she NEEDED ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND Mrs. Bogner was watching Beth do math, math, math so she DEFINITELY needed ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *smile* You do what ya gotta do……. *smile*

So there we are sitting on Ames’ bed, working away and we hear this funny sound. Amy says, “Look!!” I say “What??” She points, I move to see…creeping up the wall is a tape measure……up and up it goes……ever so slowly and carefully. Amy and I look at one another and laugh. We walk to the balcony and look over the stairs……there, in the entry below is Beth, with the tape measure. Creeping it up the wall.

Me: Beth, aren’t you supposed to be doing school???

Beth: Uh huh…….but……..*concentrating*……Mom’s on the phone…….

Me: Hmmmm……

Ames: Beth, what are you doing???

Beth: Well, you know how you’re parents won’t let you play with these things when you’re ten???

Ames and Me: Yeah……………

Beth: Well, now I can play with it…….

Amy and I looked at one another and shook our heads…..then we proceeded to watch as the tape measure crashed to the floor and Beth screamed and jumped out of the path of the thing coming down about a million times. This was entertaining….to say the least. It came down on top of poor Beth at one point and she died……….but just for a few minutes. We took advantage of the situation by throwing socks at her as she lie there, dead, on the ground. And we even told her, “For gosh sake’s Beth, smile a little. It says, Elaine lay as though she smile….” (If you don’t get that, it’s just sad.) She finally recovered and we finally got the measurements…………18 ft and some odd inches. Hmmmm, that was productive and we even convinced Mama Bogner it was part of math for the day, involving numbers and everything. Amy and I also found some string, threw it over the rail and caught a HUGE blue, red and purple fish with black polka dots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I, kmow you don ‘t believe it, but it’s true……Mmm Hmmm, it is…..It really was amazing……….Yes, well, we got back to work………

*During lunch*

Mama Bogner: The apples are good Mel……

Mel: Thanks, took me awhile to make them….

Mama Bogner: They’re Jonathan apples I think…….

Beth: Why does Mel have Jonathan’s apples???

Ames: She stole them!!!!!!

Me: Thief!!!

Beth: Then she’s a pick pocket…….

Me: Must be a big pocket, those are a lot of apples to fit in a pocket…….

Amy: It was a basket!!!!!!!

Me: So she’s a pick basket then???

Beth: Maybe the man’s name was Nick……then she would have “pickednicks basket”!!!!!!

Me: Wait a sec………they were Jonathan’s apples……he’s the whole reason for this conversation in the first place!!!!!!!!! You can’t leave him out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beth: Oh. Ok.

*Resume normal lunch conversation………well, normal for us* *smile*

I went home for dinner tonight and then went back afterwards to finish some stuff up…..the Bogners had just finished dinner too……….

Me: How was dinner??

Amy: It was good…..

Beth: We sort of had a family discussion……..

Me: Oops………was it about clothes, music, or school???

Amy: Nope……

Me: About arguing??

Beth: Welllll………

Amy: It was about people being late for dinner……..

Me: Awwwwwww Melanie!!! Again?????

Mel: *grabs squirt gun…adjusts from spray to stream….aims…….*

Me: *screaming* NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *scream* No!!!!!!!!! *puts lap top in front of face for protection*

Mel: *comes around and squirts me in the back of my head*

Me: Ok, ok, ok, I’m sorry!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t mean to, it just came out!!!!!! I knew you were the one late for dinner!!!!!!! Is it my fault I’m always here and you’re always late for dinner????????

Sigh…….after much pleading for mercy and a few more squirts she spared me. Thank goodness. *smile* That was scary, seriously, Mel’s dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That received a very long, make tears come,  good laugh….and we needed a laugh like that!!!!!!!!!! It WAS a laughing day!!!!!!!!!!! (That’s for you Aron!! *wink*) Good times…………………..*smile*
