Latest Update from the Hottmans… March 11, 2008
*NEW UPDATE*
:: Saturday, March 15th ::
I’m sorry I haven’t updated in a couple of days…I’ve been between busy and exhausted and there hasn’t been too much to update, which is a good thing. *smile*
Miracles still happen. Proven by the Lord’s hand in Hottman family. Since Mrs. Cristy had the surgery on her pelvis and hip she has been doing so, so well. The doctors have decided surgery on her ankle is necessary and they plan on doing that this coming Tuesday. If everything goes well they expect that she could be released this coming week, PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is an amazing testament of our Great Healer. From the brink of death to home and recovering, God is so good!!!!!
Winston and Hannah are still sore and have to take it very slow. Walking can be quite painful. (as well as laughing but they seem to manage. *wink*)Â Over all they are doing wonderful and looking forward to having their Mom out of the hospital and back home again.
Erika is doing fantastic. Uncle Bob took her and her cousins to the fair at the Rodeo Friday night and they had the best time!!!! When Erika came back and told Hannah and I tales of all the things she did, Hannah declared that Erika wouldn’t be going anywhere without her from now on and I told her when she wound up back in the hospital I wouldn’t come visit her. *smile* She forgets what she went through and that it’s still ok to take it easy.
I don’t expect there to be too many more updates on the Hottmans from now on. I will of course let you know when they all get home and when the service for Bro. Dan is scheduled but as far as daily updates, they’re doing SO well that there’s really no need. *smile*
I can’t thank y’all enough for all the love and prayers, support, thoughts, notes, cards, comments and emails. I know it has meant so much to the Hottmans and every extended member of their family. Thank you!!!!
Ok, so back to my normal posting *smile*….I AM SOOOOOOOOO TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what you’re thinking, you’re always tired!!!! Well, yes, so I am, but this time, wow, this is some serious tired!!! *smile*
Thursday night I got home late as usual and then I woke up in the middle of the night throwing up. UGH. What a bother. The worst part, and this might sound funny to you but it wasn’t to me….while I was throwing up I was thinking, greeeeat, now I won’t be able to go to the Livestock Show and Rodeo!!!!!!!!!! I wasn’t a happy camper.
It turned out to be food poison and not a virus, thank goodness, but my stomach muscles are still sore from that. *frown* I slept late and decided I just had to get up and go…it was awesome!!!! We had the best time!!!! Sam and Tim went, Me and Jon, Savanna, ad Aaron, the Hottman’s cousins. WOO HOO!!!!!!! *smile*
I’m house-sitting this week at a really big, really nice house. *smile* Loverly!!!! It’s so awesome with comfy beds, big tv’s and all kinds of amazing stuff. Savanna and Megan have been with me and we’ve had the best time!!!! It’s been like a mini vacation…when I’ve actually been here anyway. *smile* I’m still running everywhere and in and out all the time, but the nights and the chick flicks are nice. *smile*
I put pictures of the Rodeo on my picasa. You can see those here: www.picasaweb.google.com/ewychopen WARNING: I look AWFUL in these pics. I suppose being up all night and throwing up don’t sit well with me!!!! Ahhh well, vanity, vanity, all is vanity!!!!!! Enjoy!!!

:: Wednesday, March 12th ::
Quick update because it’s been a long day and another lay ahead and my alarm is going off in 3 and a half hours. *smile* So, the kids are all doing SO well. All three looked GREAT tonight!!!!! They are recovering so quickly and staying so strong. God is good!!!!!
Mrs. Cristy is recovering from surgery and has been in a whole lot of pain as you can imagine. Please keep praying for her!!! She needs them as she continues down this long road.
I’ve had many emails and comments asking about the service for Bro. Daniel. There aren’t any plans right now. There will be a memorial after Mrs. Cristy gets out of the hospital. I will be sure and post those details as soon as we have them but I’m assuming it will be awhile.
Keep praying dear friends!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!

:: Tuesday, March 11th ::
Mrs. Cristy was able to have surgery today. It lasted around six or seven hours. Aunt Lynn said everything went really well and Mrs. Cristy did well and is now recovering from that. I believe she told me Mrs. Cristy has seven plates in her hip and fourteen screws. She has a long painful recovery ahead but praise the Lord they were finally able to do what they needed to do!!!!!! Keep praying for less pain and speedy recovery as well as strength for this journey.
Hannah girl was released this evening and is settled in with her brother and sister at the hotel. When I got there tonight she didn’t look too great. She was in a whole lot of pain and very pale. I rubbed her back for a while and then the pain killers finally kicked in. She was almost asleep when I left so hopefully the night will be smooth and as pain free as possible for her.
I told Hannah and Winston that being out of the hospital didn’t mean they could go crazy and I threatened to sit on them if I had to, to make sure they rest and get completely better. They seem to be doing just fine with it for now though. Still too weak to do much.
Thank you for your prayers, they are making a difference and the Hottman’s appreciate it so much. The love from each one of you is evident!!!!!
So, until I hear more, goodnight from a very, very sleepy girl!!!! *smile*
Erin, I received your site address from my daughter, La Vonna Mickelson. I was one of Dan’s first professors when he entered college. He and my son, Glen, would stand in the parking lot after classes and talk and laugh for hours on end. Best friends. You have not made any mention of the services and I want to fly down and see Cristy and attend if possible. Thanks so much for sharing the progress and needs of the family.
For HIM and To HIM,
Dr. Ray Owen
Erin,
Someone just told me about your updates on the Hottman family, and I wanted to thank you for this labor of love! I grew up with the Wheeler “girls” on the mission field, and though we don’t communicate often, they are still dear to me. They have so much going on, I have hesitated to call more than a couple of times, so getting the news through you is a blessing! I have their addresses, but is someone being able to check mail? I know Mori and Bob have to be going home, so might send it through them. We are praying daily for them, and so thankful that Christy was able to finally have her surgery, and the family could have viewing of Bro. Dan’s earthly shell together. Praise God for our certain hope of eternity!
God Bless!
Susan (Dearmore) Dendler
Thank you, my friend! I’m so grateful and proud to know you! I hope you are able to catch up on your sleep!!
Love you!
Praise the Lord for the GOOD report!!!! Still praying for a FULL recovery for all of them!
